Middle school report cards and progress reports are issued every 5 weeks at Harry Bridges Span School as follows:
On 5 and 15-week progress reports, students may be given a slash "/" which simply means that they are passing with a grade of "C" or better. Some classes, such as Advisory, are given a "N" or no grade, but are still given work habits and cooperation grades.
In my class, I use Quick Grading (see explanation at right) for classwork and homework. Quizzes, tests and projects receive a percentage score. Some projects are graded using a rubric and the scoring will be explained for that individual project.
Grades are cumulative through the end of the semester and work may be made up through the end of the semester.
Make-Up Work or Re-Dos
Students are able to re-do or make up EVERY ASSIGNMENT I give except Interim Assessments and assignments for which they've received a zero due to cheating. Also, individual notebook assignments can be made up or done late, but the notebook grade will remain the same.
Late work will be penalized by 5 points per school day. All missing work will be given a zero.
Re-done assignments will be penalized by 5 points total and the higher score (minus 5 points) will be given. An assignment can be done over as many times as a student wishes (within reason) but an additional 5 points will be subtracted each time.
Make-up or redone assignments need to be done on student time, not class time. Students are responsible for scheduling a day/time with Ms. Landry to re-take tests or get any missing assignments.
